Prescott Free Clinic is excited to announce the second annual Bunco Bash for Breast Care fundraiser at the Prescott Resort & Conference Center on February 6, 2022 from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. This year, the Bunco Bash is going to be BIGGER and BETTER than ever with a larger room, more players, and a unique commemorative way to honor those who survived and in memory of those who lost. Oh, and we can't forget the chocolate fountain, plenty of delicious hors d'oeuvres, and endless smiles, laughter, and FUN! :)

The game of Bunco is fun, exciting, and easy to play! In addition to the game, there will be also be a cash bar, photo booth, and plenty of raffle items and prizes to win! Open to both Men & Women!

This event benefits Community Health Center of Yavapai’s (CHCY) Well Woman HealthCheck and Treatment Link programs. With the support of donors, CHCY’s Well Woman HealthCheck provided free breast and cervical cancer screenings and diagnostic services to over 800 low-income women in 2020. Additionally, more than 8,550 patients have been served by the Well Woman HealthCheck program since its inception in 2001, and donations make a monumental impact to some of our community’s most vulnerable women.

The Treatment Link program covers the out-of-pocket expenses associated with breast cancer treatment for low-income patients in Yavapai County. This program is essential as the out-of-pocket financial expense for breast cancer treatment for an uninsured individual could be devastating. This expense is astronomical for low-income patients already struggling to financially stay afloat.

Of the women born in the United States, 12.9% will develop some form of breast cancer in their lifetime. In Yavapai County, 12% of the population lives below the Federal Poverty Level and 14.8% are uninsured. It is critical for CHCY and Prescott Free Clinic to fundraise and receive donations, so women in need can receive the exceptional, lifesaving care they deserve.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there was a sharp decline in cancer screenings in 2020, with an 87% decline in breast cancer screenings and an 85% decline in cervical cancer screenings. The goal of screening for cancer is to catch cancers early because outcomes are significantly better when the cancer is detected early, and the cancer is easier to treat. With the significant decline in screenings in 2020, we anticipate the need for screenings and treatment to surge as people return to a normal routine. Thank you for the support and we hope to see you at the second annual Bunco Bash for Breast Care event!

*Tickets will ONLY BE SOLD ONLINE and IN-PERSON the day of the event*

Looking Back at our 2019 Bunch Bash for Breast Care

We cannot thank you enough for helping to make the previous Bunco Bash a major success! Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, as well as the 101 individuals who attended the event or purchased raffle tickets in advance, the Bunco Bash for Breast Care event raised a total of $15,142 for breast cancer treatment services.

For those who attended the previous Bunco Bash for Breast Care, we think you would agree it was a lot of FUN with endless amounts of laughter and banter among friends, family, and coworkers. This was the first major fundraiser Prescott Free Clinic held since its inception in 1993 and we couldn't be more grateful for your support.

All proceeds from the sold-out event went toward providing matching funds for the breast cancer treatment program known as Treatment Link. Annually, at CHCY locations alone, the Treatment Link program enables the screening of more than 1,000 uninsured or underinsured low-income women. When any of these women are diagnosed with breast cancer, Treatment Link provides a lifeline by covering treatment costs. Treatment of one uninsured breast cancer patient typically costs $20,000 or more.

Although this was the first fundraiser put on by Prescott Free Clinic, we're proud to say it went off with a hitch and we look forward to next years! but don't just take our word for it. According to the postevent survey:

100% of attendees said they would recommend the event to a friend or colleague

100% of attendees said the event was either extremely organized or very organized

100% of attendees said the event was About Right when asked if the length was too long, too short, or about right

Moving forward, we are going to use participant feedback to host an even better Bunco Bash in 2021. This will include having a larger room with more space!
